Procedure for reissuing a driver's license file
If you still have your driver's license but have lost the original driver's license file and are unsure if you can get a reissued file or not, let's find out together.
Reissuing the original driver's license file is possible according to the regulations:
According to Article 48, Clause 9 of Circular 58/2015/TT-BGTVT dated October 20, 2015, if a person has a valid driver's license but no longer has the original file, and their name is in the examination management agency's database, they can request a reissued original driver's license file.
Note: I want to emphasize that in order to be eligible for a reissued original file, according to the regulations, you must have a valid driver's license.
What documents are required for requesting a reissued original driver's license file:
According to Article 48, Clause 9 of Circular 58/2015/TT-BGTVT, the documents required for requesting a reissued original driver's license file include:
- A request form for changing or reissuing the driver's license according to the prescribed template.
- A copy of the driver's license, identification card, or passport with a valid period.
- The licensing authority verifies, confirms, and stamps the request form, clearly stating the license number, license category, examination date (if applicable), and training institution name (if applicable) in the upper right corner of the request form. The authority then returns it to the driver to keep as a replacement for the original file.
Where to complete the procedure for requesting a reissued original driver's license file:
The driver should prepare a complete set of documents (as mentioned above) and submit them directly to the Vietnam Road Administration or the Department of Transport (the authority that issued the driver's license).
Note: It is important to submit the documents to the Department of Transport where the driver's license was originally issued.
