1. Expiration Date for Class B1 Driving License For males:
60 years old. For females: 55 years old. If a female driver is over 55 years old or a male driver is over 60 years old, the Class B1 driving license will be issued with a validity period of 10 years from the date of issuance.
If the driving license is expired
If the driving license is expired for less than 3 months, the driver will be eligible for a new driving license. If the driving license is expired for more than 3 months but less than 1 year, the driver must retake the theoretical exam. If the driving license is expired for 1 year or more, the driver must retake both the theoretical and practical exams. To avoid the need to retake exams, drivers should prepare the necessary documents to renew their driving license as soon as possible.
2. Procedures and Fees for Renewing Class B1 Driving License
Step 1: Prepare documents Based on the content stipulated in Article 38 of Decision 12/2017/TT-BGTVT, the documents required to renew an expiring B1 driving license include:
A written request for license renewal according to current regulations. A health certification issued by authorized medical establishments. Photographs: The driver will have their photo taken at the document submission point, or at select document submission points, pre-taken photos with white background may be accepted. Other necessary documents:
For Vietnamese drivers: a copy of the driving license, ID card, or Citizen Identification Card (with the ID card number recorded).
For foreign drivers or Vietnamese residents living abroad: a copy of the passport (with valid expiration date).
Step 2: Submit the documents The documents for renewing the B1 driving license should be submitted to the Directorate for Roads of Vietnam or at the Department of Transport where the previous license was issued. Step 3: Fee Based on the content stipulated in Circular 188/2016/TT-BTC, the fee for renewing a driving license is 135,000 VND/time.
