I. What is an A2 license?
According to the latest Circular 12/2017/TT-BGTVT on TRAINING, TESTING, AND ISSUANCE OF DRIVING LICENSES FOR MOTOR VEHICLES on April 15, 2017
The A2 license is issued to drivers to operate two-wheeled motorcycles with an engine displacement of 175 cm3 and above, and other vehicles specified for the A1 license.
=>> So the A2 license, accurately known as the A2 driving license, is a type of license issued by the competent authority to a specific individual, allowing them to operate, circulate, and participate in traffic with the corresponding type of vehicle specified for the A2 license.
II. What can you drive with an A2 license?
Starting from March 1, 2014, all Vietnamese citizens who are 18 years old and meet the health requirements can take the A2 driving test and obtain an A2 license. This is good news for motorcycle enthusiasts across Vietnam and a significant development for large-displacement motorcycles in our country.
With the A2 license, you can ride motorcycles with an engine displacement of 175 cm3 and above, such as KTM 200cc, Kawasaki Z300, Yamaha Mt 03, Honda CB400sf... to even larger motorcycles with an engine displacement over 1000 cm3, such as Honda CB1000r, Yamaha R1, Honda Goldwing.
The A2 license already includes the A1 license, so you can also ride motorcycles with a smaller engine displacement under 175 cm3, such as Exciter 150, Honda Winner, Honda Air Blade...
=>> Therefore, the A2 license allows you to ride all types of two-wheeled motorcycles, from small to large and even extremely large displacements in Vietnam.
Similar to other types of driving licenses, if you want to obtain an A2 motorcycle license, you just need to go to a reputable driving training center to receive advice and assistance in preparing the necessary documents for the driving test, without having to pass any previous driving test below the A1 license.
In addition, the cost of obtaining an A2 license is not too high, usually around 1 million VND. With the cost and utility value of this license, you should prepare well for the driving skills and theoretical knowledge. This preparation requires you to perform well in the practical test and answer at least 18 out of 20 questions correctly in the theoretical test.
